Cash flow

One would be forgiven to think that the dairy monthly operating cash flow is fairly consistent.  In reality it is lumpy with the greatest cash outflow being seen in the months of May and September to November.  This is when one is planting crops for bulk feed and their harvesting (grass three to four times usually starting in May, winter wheat in July and maize in October/November).

Overall, and including capital investment we expect cash flow for the estate in 2018/19 to reach a cumulative negative of £78,000 in October before recovering as milk sales outweigh outgoings and reach an end year cumulative position of an outflow of £48,000.
